Coupled with globalization and the Internet technology, social media has transformed the way business operates. Gone are the days when the companies just had access to direct marketing. Now, businesses have access to social platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. However, there are still many businesses who say no to social media. According to Clutch 2017 Small Business Social media survey, 24% of small businesses don’t use social media sites. Less than 50% of businesses are not active on social media. This inconsistency leads to less traffic, with customers liking and commenting on competitors’ posts who are more active.

Many employers feel that social media is time-consuming. If we see, the benefits are more worth the time for small businesses. For a business to flourish, having a list of loyal customers is mandatory. To achieve this, social media is the best. A small business can start by asking customers the social media sites they use and start working on them. It is the best way that allows customers to bond with businesses. It is an efficient way to deliver information to the customers.

UAE industrialists are increasingly using social media to grow their businesses. With 3.6 million active Facebook users, and 363,000 Twitter accounts in the UAE alone, businesses can be heard more. Living in a communication age and not utilising digital technologies could deprive a business of many benefits like easy promotion, enhanced customer service and brand recognition.
